Monday

"Worked in my new detail all day.  Not much to do and too much time to do it in.  I seemed like mail call would never come.  I got a letter from Mom and Uncle John, and a sweet get well card from Betty.  She sure thinks of everything.  Wrote to Sweet, before and after chow.  Jay went to chow with me and after Stone did an enormous washing, we went to the 8:30 show, and saw "Standing Room Only," with Pallett Goddord and Fred McMurry.  It sure was good.  She reminds me of Betty and just about as pretty as Betty too.
After it was over we walked around quite a bit because it was so pretty out.  The moon was beautiful and the stars were real bright.  I pray that someday soon that I can be home with Betty again.  I miss her so.  I'm miserable.  It's sure tough to keep going this way.  I hope God will help me take it.  It's not that I am homesick.  I just miss her so.  I'm sure going to pray tonight."

Dad is depending on God to help him mentally get through the uncertainty and separation from the girl he loves.  He told me often that he prays every night before going to sleep.
