Thursday
"Happy birthday Sweet.
We had 50 cal. practice again today. I went to sleep and dreamed right in the middle of it.
Went to the show this evening and saw, "Coner Girl," with Reta Hayworth.
It is really raining out tonight. I got Betty's letter that I wrote pretty wet.
Well today is Betty's 18th Birthday. She is of age now. She is so Sweet."
Back then girls could get married without parental permission at 18. Men had to be 21. I Know a letter was needed for Dad to marry her after the war. If I am doing my math right, Dad was only 18, to turn 19 in August. They were so young to have the war on their shoulders.
