March 22, 1944

Wednesday

"We had loading drill today of a 40 m.m.  Some job and Lord the noise.  Things are really clicking now.  I sure realize there is a war going on.
We had duty today.  I'm lucky again.  I'm to stand by, man a 50 cal. in case of air raid, or black out.
I got two letters from Sweet today.  I wrote to Betty, and started a letter to Dad.  I just hope that Mom does not read the letter.  And I hope he will understand all the stuff I said."
