January 6, 1944

Thursday

     "Today got up at 0800 and ate breakfast, then went back to bed and slept till 1100.
     Went to the ration board in the afternoon and got food and meat stamps, and 5 gal. of gasoline.
     Went over and got Betty.  Then we both went to the school and got Phyllis and took her to the dentist.
      Came home and packed my clothes.  Ha Ha helped me and she did too
     We ate supper and then left for the station, and stopped by and said goodbye to Margorie.
     Said goodbye to Mom and Betty and little Ha Ha
     Dad went up to the train with me and wished me lots of luck.  He is one swell dad.  The train pulled out at 1810.  Its going to be hard getting used to this."

Well this was his departure.  Phyllis is Dad's little sister.  I have no idea who Ha Ha  is, maybe a dog?
Margorie was Dad's cousin.  Later in life he found out That Margie was his half sister.
