Tuesday
"That sleep is what I needed. I guess anyway. I feel like a million this morning, and it is a nice morning out. The robins woke me up. The war sure has not changed them a bit. I thought I was home for a minute. They used to sing out in Grandma's tree, and wake me up, sure as the day would come.
I feel O.K. today thank goodness. In school we signed up for duty request and I took Electric Torpedo School. I can't make my mind sorry or sad. I am doing what is best and not what I want.
We had exercises today and more running.
I got a letter from Mom and Sweet today.
Gaudette and I went to chow and then to the show and saw, "Lady Let's Dance," with Beleta.
Wrote to Sweet, washed and hit the sack. Got paid $40 today."
I moved from Indianapolis to New York in the 70's. Indianapolis is on the western edge of the EST zone, The east coast is on the eastern edge. Indianapolis never observed daylight savings time. It was not needed. On the east coast the sun time was an hour earlier and I remember daylight with the birds sing was as early as 4:30 a.m. in the spring before daylight savings time.
